WAWESOME - What a brilliant weekend in Raetihi and on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu! A big THANKS to Royce for organising such a fabulous event. Many thanks also go out to Sara and Steve for helping with the feeding of over forty hungry skiers and dancers with scrumptious home made pizzas, nachos and much more! Snowy Waters Lodge in Raetihi is a great location for the weekend. The outdoor spa pool was much appreciated by weary skiing and snowboarding muscles! And the rimu dance floor was just what the doctor ordered for Saturday night. Do you know all of the 21 Beginners moves? Are you thinking of joining, or have you recently joined, our Intermediate classes? Are you ready to ‘Move on Up’!?
We have just the thing - August’s Technique/Moving Up Workshop at Petone Central School, Saturday 14 August from 3:30 – 5:30pm.
This Workshop will take you through techniques that will help you take your dancing to the next level. It will provide the important transition from Beginner dancing to Intermediate and higher level dancing, and will give you the firm foundations to constantly enhance your dancing skill and repertoire.
A must do for those of you who:
• have attended ten or more Beginner lessons and are ready for more
• wish to start coming along to Intermediate classes
• have recently joined Intermediate classes
• who have never attended one of these workshops before.
This fun and entertaining workshop will help those moves you know, and then some you don’t, to flow during freestyle. Step out on that dance floor with renewed confidence and feel great. All attendees need to be familiar with the 21 Beginner moves.
Our fabulous Peter Williams and Jenni Collingwood will be running this workshop. With two instructors you will get twice the experience and hear from both gender perspectives!
Cost is just $30 per person, or $55 for a man and lady booking together. Be in quick, spaces will be limited. If you have been to a previous Moving Up Workshop with us, you are invited to attend this one on 14 August as a refresher, at the discounted rate of $10 per person or $15 for a man and lady booking together. It is always beneficial to refresh ourselves with techniques that will stand us in good stead for all of our future dancing. Bookings and payments must be received by Friday 13 August. Come and see us at the front desk at class to register, or flick us an email if you will not be at class between now and then.

WHAT’S ON:
Ceroc Active 103 – Baby Aerials Workshop with Catherine and Royce. Monday 26 July 7:00-9:00pm Bellevue School Hall, Bancroft Terrace, Newlands
Level: Intermediate Plus. The workshop will be suitable to both Higher Intermediate and Advanced Dancers.
Ceroc Active includes physically demanding, high energy moves such as: jumps, turns, dips, drops, baby aerials and full aerials.
In Ceroc Active 103 – Baby Aerials, you will learn technique, control and stability, entries, exits as well as finesse! The workshop will take you through different moves than last year’s Ceroc Active 102. The usual Ceroc Active blend of lifts and floor moves will be included, with the lifts being baby aerials only. These moves are not about brut force, speed, or size. They are about technique, balance, safety, trust, control, stability and hard work. These moves are not so much designed for social dance floor occasions; they are for competition work, demos, performance pieces, definitely for personal fun and great for fitness.
What is a Baby Aerial you ask!?…A baby aerial is a move where the lady is lifted off the ground but one of her feet remains below the man’s waist at all times.
Entry criteria: Men - must be able to lift and hold your partner off the floor unaided. Ladies - must be comfortable with being lifted off the floor. Bring your own partner (BYOP) - there will be no rotation.
There will be four coaches/dancers with experience in all heights of aerials circulating around the floor for this workshop! Royce, Catherine, Peter and Sara will all be there to help you get plenty of one to one assistance throughout the evening.
Price is just $60 per couple. Come and register together at the front desk or contact us for further information if you will not be at class between now and then. Registration and payment is required by Friday 23 July. Numbers will be limited.

We all love to dress up so get your best dresses out for Prom Night! Be whisked away on the dance floor by handsome men and beautiful ladies. You are welcome to not dress up in costume but simply turn up in your favourite dance party clothes. The cost is $20 on the door. Supper is included but please BYO drinks. The Simply Ceroc Weekend Labour Weekend 22-25 October 2010 A message for you from Ceroc Wellington about the Aerials workshop, to be held during the Simply Ceroc weekend, with your very own Catherine and Royce:
“Bring a piece of excitement and thrill to your dance practice. We call it top floor and bottom floor – almost touch the ceiling, and just inches from the floor! Prepare to learn several challenging moves incorporating technique, control and stability, as well as finesse! Get the low down on how aerials work, what each partner is responsible for and why it is vital to polish your entries and exits. Turn people's heads with un-readability, exhilaration and most importantly fun!
This workshop is aimed at advanced dancers and is being taught by Catherine and Royce. The entertaining duo from just down the road are ready again to teach you a collection of lifts and captivating moves. Part owners of neighbouring Ceroc Kapi-Hutt, Catherine and Royce have been dancing and teaching together since 2005. They have pushed boundaries in their aerial work and are very passionate about what they demonstrate and teach. Known for their energy and enthusiasm their drive is not only to teach you the moves but have you enjoy the journey with laughter and fun along the way. You need to book this workshop with a partner and you will stay with that partner.”

Taranaki Champs in New Plymouth Saturday 13 November 2010
We have a message for you from Jeremy Scarle of Ceroc Taranaki:
“It's that time again! November is rolling around fast and there's nothing like an early reminder to get you ready for another year of Ceroc Champs in the land of Taranaki! East and South Champs are less than 2 months away, and what will happen after that? Don't waste those hours of competition training - come and strut your stuff at our champs too! All the usual freestyle, fun and team events will be running, and we'll also be adding in the 45+ and Under 20 sections.
Same fantastic venue as last year (Bell Block Hall), on Saturday 13th November. Heats will begin around 12pm with a dinner break at 6pm, ready to start the finals at 7pm. Competitor's tickets $60 including supper.
Registration forms, rules and information will be online from 31st August - but start getting organised now; the champs are the same weekend as the "Taranaki Around the Mountain Cycle Challenge", accommodation will get snapped up fast.
